To qualify for a Real Estate Broker license in the state of Louisiana, you must:

  • Have been actively licensed as a real estate salesperson for at least four years*
  • Show proof of successful completion of one hundred fifty (150) classroom hours or its equivalent in courses specified and approved by LREC
  • Comply with all application procedures required by LREC
  • Pass the Broker licensing examination
  • Provide proof of mandatory Errors and Omissions insurance prior to issuance of license

* The four years active licensed real estate salesperson experience requirement can be fulfilled in Louisiana or another jurisdiction. If licensed out of state, the applicant must provide proof of licensure from the real estate licensing agency in each applicable jurisdiction.
