About the Exam:
The Louisiana Real Estate Commission's licensing examinations are administered by Pearson VUE.

Applicants must apply for licensing with the Louisiana Real Estate Commission. After submitting your application you will receive an email from Pearson VUE allowing you to register for the exam. The cost of the combination exam—which includes both the National and State portions—is $78, and the LREC license fee is $90. If you decide or need to take the National and State portion independently/separately, the cost of each individual exam is $39.

There are numerous test centers throughout Louisiana. Please click to download the Pearson VUE Candidate Handbook.

The exam is a two-part multiple choice exam. The 80-question "National" portion addresses information of a general nature, such as contracts, real estate ownership, financing sources, valuation, and agency. The 55-question "State Specific" portion covers information unique to Louisiana, including Louisiana Civil Code, Louisiana Agency Law, and Louisiana Real Estate Commission Rules and Regulations. You are allotted 240 minutes for the combination National & State exam. If taken separately, you are allotted 150 minutes for the National portion, and 90 minutes for the State portion.

Items You Must Bring with You to the Exam:
Two (2) forms of identification with signatures. One of the 2 forms of ID must be government-issued photo identification.

Important Note: You may not take any personal items with you into the testing area. This is strictly enforced.

Score Required to Pass the Exam:
It is required that you must score a 70% or better on the "National" portion and score a 70% or better on the "Louisiana" portion in order to receive your Louisiana Real Estate Salesperson license.
