Appraiser Requirements

To become a licensed appraiser trainee, you must complete 75 hours of instruction including:

  • 30 hours of Appraisal Principles
  • 30 hours of Appraisal Procedures
  • 15 hours of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice
You must be sponsored by a certified appraiser as a trainee for a minimum of 2 years, during which time you must complete a minimum of 250 appraisals.

To become a certified residential appraiser you must complete the trainee apprenticeship, then complete an additional 125 hours of instruction and pass the state exam.

You must have at least 2 years of college coursework to become an appraiser.
